A small salon, letterpressed in plum

Hair that grows out kindly.

Plum Letter is a four-chair studio for unhurried consultations, lived-in colour and cuts shaped around the way your hair actually behaves on a Tuesday morning.

Services

Five things we do properly.

Every appointment opens with a proper conversation about texture, growth and how much time you want to spend on it at home. Times below include that talk.

01

Signature Cut

A dry assessment first, then a wet cut shaped to your parting and growth pattern. Finished with a blow-dry you could repeat yourself.

75 minutes
02

Lived-in Colour

Soft root melts, low-contrast highlights and tonal glosses designed to blur the regrowth line instead of drawing it.

2 – 3 hours
03

Colour Correction

For box dye, banding or a shade that drifted. Booked as a mapped plan across one or more visits, quoted in the chair before we begin.

By plan
04

Bond & Scalp Treatment

A warm basin ritual for hair that feels tired after summer, swimming or a lot of heat. Layered under a cut or booked on its own.

45 minutes
05

Curl & Texture Session

Curl-by-curl shaping, plus a plain-language routine for wash day. You leave with the products written down, not upsold.

90 minutes
Hair being rinsed at a salon wash basin during a scalp treatment
The studio

We kept the room small on purpose.

Plum Letter began as a single chair in a borrowed room and never really lost that pace. Four chairs, no overlapping bookings, no music loud enough to shout over. The point is that you get the whole appointment, not the gaps between someone else's foils.

  • One stylist, start to finish

The person who consults with you is the person who cuts, colours and finishes. Nothing gets handed off mid-appointment.

  • Consultation before commitment

If a look needs more time or more visits than you have, we will say so in the chair rather than halfway through the bleach.

  • Routines you can actually keep

You leave with a short, written way to style it at home — three steps, not eleven.

Lookbook

Recent work from the floor.

A few finishes from the last season — shot in the studio, in daylight, with no filter beyond the window.

Blunt bob, soft ends

Cut dry to keep the weight line honest, then softened through the last inch.

Warm tonal gloss

A half-hour gloss over grown-out highlights to bring the mid-lengths back together.

Long layered hair styled into loose waves, photographed from behind

Long invisible layers

Length kept, movement added — layers set inside the hair rather than on top of it.

The chairs

Who you will be sitting with.

Mention a preference in your request and we will hold that chair if it is free.

Founder & Colourist

Marlow Reyes

Works mostly in tonal, low-maintenance colour and spends the first ten minutes of every appointment on the parting alone.

Senior Stylist

Ines Aldabe

Precision cutting, fringes and short shapes. Happiest when someone arrives with a photo and leaves with something better suited to them.

Texture Specialist

Danny Okoro

Curl-by-curl cutting and wash-day routines, with a soft spot for hair that has been told it is difficult.

Before you come in

Questions we hear often.

Do I need a consultation first?

Not for a cut — the consultation is built into the appointment. For a big colour change or a correction, we usually ask for a short visit beforehand so we can look at your hair in daylight and plan the timing properly.

Is a patch test needed?

Yes, for any tint or bleach if it is your first colour service with us, or if it has been more than six months. It takes a couple of minutes and needs to happen at least 48 hours before your appointment.

How long will I be in the chair?

Times are listed with each service. Colour work varies with density and length, so we confirm the realistic window in your reply email rather than guessing on the page.

Can I move or cancel my appointment?

Of course. Reply to the confirmation email as early as you can and we will find another time. With only four chairs, a little notice makes a real difference.
